Alaska Wide Open Charters is owned and operated by Joel and Leanne Steenstra.  The Steenstra family is a fishing family that resides in Craig year round.  Joel and Leanne have children named Ada, Olivia, and Aaron.  Joel is a United States Coast Guard veteran and has been guiding and commercial fishing in the Craig area for the last 20 years.  He has logged well over 1200 guide days in the Craig area.   Joel and Leanne strive to make Alaska Wide Open Charters the best value in the Craig area while providing consistent world-class fishing.  It's a team effort with Joel guiding, and Leanne doing everything else, including cutting fish.  The entire family is down on the dock filleting your catch. 

 

Captain Joel stays very busy in the fishing industry when he is not running his charter business.  He owns  several limited entry permits and participates in the commercial salmon troll and the herring roe on kelp fisheries.  He also has commercial halibut quotas that he longlines or converts to GAF fish.
